Issue

Often customers raise tickets for YBM environments regarding the number of connections they are limited to.
This KB will explain the connection caps in place and how they are distributed.

Free Tier

Free Tier clusters are limited to 25 DB connections, as these are low spec'ed single node (2CPU) systems. This is clearly stated on the create cluster screen when choosing the type of YBM cluster.
We cannot increase this limit, so for any customers requesting this, we suggest they move to multi-node clusters if they require more connections.

Multi-node

On multi node clusters the connection limit is "Total CPU's" x 15, this limit is enforced per node, so the total limit assumes even distribution of connections. In a distributed cluster if connections only go to one region, the customer will be limited by the nodes in that region.
